Oil

Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. Just like blood is pumped through your body, oil is continually pumped through the engine, enabling it to work efficiently. The oil’s movement helps to cool hot engine components and protect them. Oil lubricates vital engine components, allowing them to move easily and preventing friction damage.

Oil can leak from several places, but the most common is from worn seals. During an engine service, we check the condition of every seal and replace any damaged ones. If your engine loses oil, components can seize up and cause additional damage. You’ll usually easily see an oil leak, as the liquid will be brown or black and very sticky. We’ll trace the source of the leak and repair it.

Coolant

Coolant is a mixture of water and antifreeze, and its job is to prevent your engine from overheating. As the coolant is pumped through your engine, it passes over numerous hot engine components. The coolant absorbs the heat from these components as it moves. Once the heat has been absorbed, the coolant is pumped into the radiator tubes, where the heat is removed by heat exchange.

A coolant leak can cause your engine to overheat very quickly, and overheating will damage vital engine components like gaskets, seals, and even the engine cylinders. Coolant can leak from damaged radiator hoses, a rusted radiator, or a faulty radiator cap. Fortunately, coolant is easy to identify, as it is brightly colored pink, yellow, orange, or green. Once we find the source of the leak, our technician will fix it.

Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid is bright to dark red and has a sweet smell. It’s continually pumped through the transmission and enables the transmission to work smoothly and safely. Many transmission components depend on friction to work effectively, and friction can result in damage in the long term. This fluid surrounds each component in a friction-resistant covering to protect them from damage.

Transmission fluid also provides the vital hydraulic power that allows your transmission’s gears to shift. A transmission fluid leak can lead to extensive damage to your transmission. The most common leak site for this fluid is a worn transmission pan gasket. Our technicians will examine your transmission and fix the leak.
