20If you’re a Honda enthusiast who’s been anxiously awaiting a newer, faster, higher performing version of the 10th- generation Honda Civic, rest assured that you’re not alone and the wait is nearly over. In mid-November of 2016, Honda unveiled the all-new 2017 Civic Si prototype at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
With Honda’s Vice President and General Manager’s assurance it “… will be, hands down, the fastest, best-handling Si we’ve ever offered,” it’s safe to say this is a major cause for celebration among Honda lovers and high-performance vehicle enthusiasts alike.
With the prototype nearly ready for production, here’s a look at some things you can expect to see in the 2017 Honda Civic Si.
Vehicle Specs
- Performance – The 2017 Civic Si will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that’s truly built for speed, delivering 205 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. Its Limited Slip Differential (LSD) enables drivers to take corners tighter and smoother than ever before, and the Adaptive Damper System’s (ADS) masterful handling of the suspension gives you far more control and stability – not to mention a boost of confidence – behind the wheel. As for the transmission, stick-shift fans nationwide can rejoice knowing the only option available will be a six-speed manual transmission.
- Exterior – Drivers looking to flaunt their need for speed will be happy to learn the new Si will feature a center-outlet sport exhaust system, adding an extra element of sporty aggression and a track-inspired howl that screams to other drivers on the road or track that you simply aren’t to be messed with. The sleek, aerodynamic rear wing and front splitter help keep you grounded while driving at high speeds. To complement the vehicle’s dynamic look and help frame the cross-drilled rotors and upgraded brakes, both in terms of size and quality, the Si will feature two-tone 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels.
- Interior – The new Civic Si will offer a number of cutting-edge interior features to match the increased performance of the exterior features, including a Sport Mode which automatically adjusts the suspension, throttle and steering settings for optimal performance. Front sport bucket seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel rev up the thrill (and comfort) of any drive through the winding roads of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. As for the sound system, the new Si will come with a 450-watt premium audio system and boast a display audio touch-screen and easy-to-access USB ports, because Honda knows no drive is complete without the perfect tunes to boot.
