With growing concerns over the impact vehicles have on the environment, Honda has an increasing number of alternative vehicles to help the cause. From hybrids to electric, and even fuel cell, Honda goes "green" with these models.
The 2017 Accord Hybrid
The Honda Accord Hybrid is a full-size sedan that comes well equipped with features and technology, and it has a low carbon footprint. This sedan has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors that produce a combined 212 horsepower. A lithium-ion battery mounted in the trunk keeps the electric motors charged. The Accord offers the Hybrid in three different trim levels, so drivers can get the features they want. It also comes with the safety features of the regular model, including Honda's LaneWatch system with a low and wide view of the blind spot, forward-collision warning with mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. The Honda Fit EV
The Honda Fit EV is a subcompact all-electric vehicle that doesn't use any gas and produces no emissions. It has a surprising amount of space on the inside for a small vehicle, and it gets excellent fuel economy. The Fit EV has a 92kW electric motor that charges in just three hours when using a low-charge indicator. The multi-link rear suspension makes this little car fun to drive, and it has a host of safety features including electronic brake distribution, vehicle stability assist, and six airbags. The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell
The Clarity is Honda's fuel-cell vehicle. It uses hydrogen fuel to power an electric motor by converting the hydrogen into electricity. This system produces zero emissions for a fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly car. The Clarity fuel cell uses smart technology to help you keep track of your fuel level and driving range, and it helps you find hydrogen fuel stations within your range. Right now, the Clarity fuel cell is available only in California, where there are several fueling stations set up.The 2018 Honda Clarity Electric
In the near future, Honda plans to expand the Clarity with a plug-in hybrid version and an all-electric version. The Honda Clarity Electric will go on sale as a 2018 model and will offer buyers an affordable battery-electric vehicle with room for five passengers with a premium look and feel. This vehicle will offer DC fast charging, 18-inch alloy wheels, and full LED headlights. It will also come with the latest technology, including Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. You can expect to see this version of the Clarity hit showroom floors in August 2017.The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid
Honda also has plans to release a hybrid version of the Clarity. It will available in all 50 states, unlike the fuel-cell version, and the hybrid version which will have limited markets. This version of the Clarity will come with the Honda Sensing suite of safety features, and it will have Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. Honda wants to help protect the environment with these alternative fuel vehicles and help buyers save at the pump. Image via Honda.com
